I traveled to northern Ethiopia with minimal equipment (drone, camera, microphone) to document the ongoing geological events of the African continent splitting apart and the formation of a new ocean for the YouTube channels fern and Simplicissimus. I also captured the lives of the local nomadic communities who utilize the volcanic activity for their survival.
The originally English video has also been adapted to German. Both versions have reached 8 million views and can be viewed below alongside a few stills.
